Little homers, Rockies down Marlins, 11-1

Bill Little hit a home run and drove in four runs, and four pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter as the Rockies pounded the Marlins, 11-1, Sunday at Creekside Park.

HIGHLIGHTS

Key to the win: The Rockies held the Marlins scoreless until the fifth inning when Duane Johnson walked and eventually scored on Jacob Witham's ground out.

Game MVPs: Bill Little went 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored. He pitched four innings, giving up no hits and no runs. He struck out two and walked one. Andrew DElia went 2-for-3 with a run scored. He pitched one shutout inning. Gabriel Brown went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Dakotah Thomas went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. He pitched one inning, striking out three and walking one. Isaiah McPherson went 1-for-2 with three runs scored.

Notable Effort: Rides Ordonez pitched two innings, giving up one hit and one run. He struck out two and walked two.

Ryan's homer dooms Mets; Rockies win 2-0

Shawn Ryan hit a two-out, two-run homer in the top of the eighth inning to beat the Mets 2-0 Sunday at Creekside Park and keep the Rockies undefeated during the fall season.

HIGHLIGHTS

Key to the win: Both teams managed only four hits, but the Rockies got the big one -- a two-out, two-run home run by Shawn Ryan. Both runs were unearned because Andrew DElia reached on an error two batters earlier.

Game MVPs: Shawn Ryan went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Bill Little went 2-for-3. Little also pitched five shutout innings, giving up three hits and two walks while striking out three. Andrew DElia pitched two innings, giving up one hit and one walk while striking out four.

Notable Effort: Alex Calabrese pitched eight innings, giving up four hits, and two unearned runs. He struck out seven and walked one. Gino Forte and Yoenny Hurtado went 1-for-2.

Freeman tosses five shutout innings; Mets top Marlins

John Freeman pitched five shutout innings and went 2-for-3 and drove in a run to lead the Mets to a 7-3 win over the Marlins Sunday at Creekside Park.

Rockies score early, top Marlins 13-8

Bill Little, Allen Barnett and Alex Ventura each drove in two runs to power the Rockies to a 13-8 win over the Marlins Sunday at Creekside Park.

Key to the win: Shawn Ryan singled in one run and Alex Ventura singled in two runs in an four-run third inning to give the Rockies a lead they would never give up.

McAnallen Ks 17 to lead Mets to 9-6 win

Damon McAnallen gave up two hits and struck out 17 to lead the Mets to a 9-6 win over the visiting Dinos from Jacksonville Sunday at Creekside Park.

HIGHLIGHTS

Key to the win: After giving up three runs in the first inning on a two-run double and a run-scoring ground out, Damon McAnallen struck out 15 over the next six innings and finished the game striking out the side.

Game MVPs: Damon McAnallen pitched seven innings, giving up two hits and three earned runs. He stuck out 17 and walked five. He also went 1-for-3 with a run scored. Freeman's 2-run double completes Mets' comeback

John Freeman's two-run double in the top of the seventh inning completed a Mets comeback with a 7-6 win over the Marlins Sunday at Heath Field.

Key to the win: The Marlins jumped out to a 5-0 win after three innings, but the Mets chipped away with three runs in the fourth, two in the fifth and two more in the seventh.

Errors lead to back-and-forth game; Mets, Rockies tie, 7-7

The Rockies scored three unearned runs in the fifth inning to take the lead, the Mets scored six unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth to recapture the lead, and the Rockies scored two more unearned runs in the top of the seventh to even the score as the Mets and Rockies played to a 7-7 tie Sunday at Heath Field.

HIGHLIGHTS

Key to the game: Errors were the key to the game. Both teams had plenty to go around, and three of the 14 runs in the game were the result of errors,

Mets win season-opener, take down Marlins, 14-5

Dylan Trent drove in two runs and two Mets' pitchers held the Marlins to one earned run to lead the Mets to a 14-5 win in their fall season-opening Sunday at Heath Field.

Key to the win: After the Mets gave up four runs on errors in the top of the fifth inning, they scored 11 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on six walks, two errors and four hits.
