Freeman's 2-run double completes Mets' comeback

John Freeman's two-run double in the top of the seventh inning completed a Mets comeback with a 7-6 win over the Marlins Sunday at Heath Field.

HIGHLIGHTS

Key to the win: The Marlins jumped out to a 5-0 win after three innings, but the Mets chipped away with three runs in the fourth, two in the fifth and two more in the seventh.

Winning Pitcher: Damon McAnallen

Losing Pitcher: Andrew Johnson

Game MVPs: Damon McAnallen went 2-for-4 with three runs scored. John Freeman went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored. Dylan Trent, Walker Hill and Zack Campbell each went 1-for-3.

Notable Effort: Rides Ordonez went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Andrew Johnson went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Yoenny Hurtado went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Miscellaneous Notes: The Mets are now 2-0-1. The Marlins fall to 0-3. Defense was not the highlight of the game, with both teams struggling through a difficult fifth inning.

Errors lead to back-and-forth game; Mets, Rockies tie, 7-7

The Rockies scored three unearned runs in the fifth inning to take the lead, the Mets scored six unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth to recapture the lead, and the Rockies scored two more unearned runs in the top of the seventh to even the score as the Mets and Rockies played to a 7-7 tie Sunday at Heath Field.

HIGHLIGHTS

Key to the game: Errors were the key to the game. Both teams had plenty to go around, and three of the 14 runs in the game were the result of errors,

Mets MVPs: Damon McAnallen wnt 2-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored. Malik Dixon went 1-for-1 with two runs scored. John Freeman went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Alex Calabrese went 1-for-3 with a run scored. Walker Hill threw three no-hit innings to start the game.

Rockies MVPs: Michael Coombs went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Andrew DElia went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Dakotah Thomas went 1-for-2 with two runs scored.

Mets win season-opener, take down Marlins, 14-5

Dylan Trent drove in two runs and two Mets' pitchers held the Marlins to one earned run to lead the Mets to a 14-5 win in their fall season-opening Sunday at Heath Field.

HIGHLIGHTS

Key to the win: After the Mets gave up four runs on errors in the top of the fifth inning, they scored 11 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on six walks, two errors and four hits.

Winning Pitcher: Alex Calabrese

Losing Pitcher: Duane Johnson

Game MVPs: Eric Jennings went 1-for-1 with two runs scored. Damon McAnallen, Jacob Lawrence, Dylan Trent and Jordan Layman each went 1-for 2. Alex Calabrese pitched five innings, giving up four hits and one earned run. He struck out seven and walked one. Damon McAnallen struck out three in one inning of relief.

Notable Effort: Kevin Johnson went 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Dakotah Thomas went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Rides Ordonez went 1-for-4 with a run scored.

3 Rockies pitchers combine to no-hit Marlins, win 7-0

Bill Little had four hits and drove in three runs to lead the Rockies to a 7-0 win over the Marlins Sunday to kick off the fall season.

HIGHLIGHTS

Key to the win: Bill Little Andre D'Elia and Dakotah Thomas combined to no-hit the Marlins, despite giving up seven walks.

Losing Pitcher: Kaiden Morales

Game MVPs: Bill Little went 4-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored. He also pitched three shutout innings, giving up no hits and one walk while striking out three. Brandon Bowden went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored. Michael Coombs went 1-for-2 with a run scored.

Notable Effort: Kaiden Morales and Andrew Johnson combined to pitch seven innings, giving up 10 hits and six earned runs.
