Dodgers crush Padres, 23-4; championship tournament starts next week at Kafer
Patrick Williams and Alberto Sosa each drove in three runs, and Jayson Melendez gave up only one run in four innings as the Dodgers crushed the Padres, 23-4, Thursday night to end the 35+ Division regular season.
HIGHLIGHTS
Key to the win: With the scored tied, 3-3, the Dodgers used an assortment of hits, walks and errors to score 10 runs in the third inning. They put the game out of reach with nine more runs in the top of the fifth inning, ending the game on Mercy Rule.
Winning pitcher: Jayson Melendez
Losing pitcher: Danny Nunez
Game MVPs: Patrick Williams and Alberto Sosa each went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Andre Perez went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Jimmie Lee went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Rob Fravor went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Miscellaneous Notes: With the win, the Dodgers improve to 3-10-2 and move into third place because they old the head-to-head tie-breaker with the Padres. The Dodgers will play the Nationals on Wednesday at Kafer Park in the first round of the championship tournament. The Padres fall to 3-10-2 and will play the Orioles in the first round of the championship tournament on Tuesday at Kafer Park.

Orioles complete undefeated regular season with 16-7 win over Nationals
Chris Drake drove in three runs and four other Orioles drove in two runs as the Orioles completed an undefeated regular season with a 16-7 win over the Nationals Wednesday night at Kafer Park.
HIGHLIGHTS
Key to the win: Two errors and Johnny Tripp's two-run double and Chris Drake's two-run single lead to eight second-inning runs and put the Orioles up, 11-1.
Winning pitcher: Kevin Vanzandt
Losing pitcher: Roland Fielder
Game MVPs: Chris Drake went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and one run scored. Johnny Tripp went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Travis Wynne went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Geoff McLawhorn stole a hit from Brian Edwards due to a base running gaffe. Edwards would have been 2-for-4 but ends up 1-for-3.

J.P. Whitford tossed a no-hitter and Geoff McLawhorn drove in three runs as the Orioles pounded the Nationals, 18-3, Monday night at Creekside Park.
HIGHLIGHTS
Key to the win: The Orioles took advantage of nine walks and 14 hits to score 18 runs, and J.P. Whitford gave up no hits over five innings before the game ended by Mercy Rule.

Dodgers plate four in bottom of seventh, complete comeback tie with Nationals
Doug Amerson's two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning capped a four-run comeback as the Dodgers and Nationals played to a 16-16 tie, Wednesday night at Creekside Park.
HIGHLIGHTS
Key to the tie: It was a game that no one seemed to want to win. The Nationals gave up seven runs in the first inning, but the Dodgers handed the game back in the third inning, giving up nine runs. The Dodgers gave up four runs in the top of the seventh inning, but the Nationals returned the favor in the bottom half of the inning.
Winning pitcher: Both teams scored 16 runs. This was no pitching duel.
Losing pitcher: Seriously, 32 hits and 18 walks in the game.
Dodgers MVPs: Doug Amerson went 3-for-5 with five RBIs and one run scored. Andy Schneider went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Jayson Melendez went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Shannon Edwards went 2-for-5. Jimmie Lee went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Key to the win: The game was even through three innings, but the Orioles pulled away by scoring four runs in the fourth inning, and tacked on four more in the sixth and five in the seventh.

The Nationals scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to complete a comeback and tie the Padres, 7-7, Tuesday night at Creekside Park.

Key to the tie: Ervin Jones hit a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the score. The game reached the time limit and finished with a tie.

Jesse Kenefic scored the tying run and Ervin Jones scored the winning run with one out as Scott Shaffer grounded out in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Nationals came from behind to beat the Dodgers, 6-5, Tuesday at Creekside Park.

Key to the win: The Nationals scored five unearned runs due to Dodgers' errors. And while the Dodgers took the lead in the top of the seventh inning, came back in the bottom of the inning for the win.

Key to the win: The Padres surrendered nine walks in the game. That combined with eight Nationals' hits resulted in a near-Mercy Rule win.

Key to the tie: Four walks, two batters hit by a pitch, three errors and one hit led to eight Padres runs in the top of the sixth inning.
Winning pitcher: Matt Curtis
MVP pitcher: Jayson Melendez pitched the first five innings, and had to return for the seventh inning. Overall, he pitched six innings, gave up three hits, two earned runs, two walks and struck out 10.

Cherry leads Orioles to win over Nationals, Orioles remain undefeated
Brandon Cherry went 3-for-3 and drove in three runs, and Travis Wynne and J.P. Whitford combined to hold the Nationals to five hits and three runs as the Orioles remained unbeaten with a 16-3 win Tuesday night at Heath Field.
HIGHLIGHTS
Key to the win: Brandon Cherry and Jimmie Lee each had two-run singles in the first inning as the Orioles scored eight runs and set the tone for the game.

Kevin Vandandt no-hit the Padres for six innings and finished with a one-hit shutout, and Travis Wynne went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored to lead the Orioles to a 5-0 win over the Padres Wednesday night at Heath Field.
HIGHLIGHTS
Key to the win: Former youngster and ECABL Cy Young winner Kevin Vanzandt held the Padres hitless until Kelby Brooks led off the sixth inning with a line-drive single to center field. Vanzandt struck out eight and walked two.

Miscellaneous Notes: Geoff McLawhorn had a triple to the fence in right field. He probably could have had a home run, but we'll never know because he stopped running.

The Nationals used 10 walks, six errors and 11 hits to score 17 runs to beat the Dodgers, 17-8 Tuesday night at Heath Field.

Key to the win: Ervin Jones singled twice in the fourth inning, drove in two runs and scored two runs as the Nationals scored eight to take a commanding lead.

Key to the win: A nine-run second inning, capped by Wu's line drive to right-center that reached the fence, propelled the Nationals to the win.

The Orioles won by forfeit on Thursday night because the Padres did not have enough rostered players, but the two teams played, and the Orioles pounded the Padres 15-0 behind 16 hits and a shortened complete game shutout from J.P. Whitford.

Key to the win: Overcoming injuries and scheduling conflicts by the Orioles, and Dave on the Padres coming down with the flu. And the 3-for-3 by Kevin Vanzandt didn't hurt either.
