Nationals top Orioles for ECABL championship
Curtis tosses shutout, drives in game's only runs with two-run, first-inning double
Matt Curtis tossed a six-hit shutout and struck out 16 batters, and his first-inning, two-run double was all the scoring needed for the Nationals to beat the Orioles, 2-0, and win the ECABL 35+ Division championship.
HIGHLIGHTS
Key to the win: With two outs in the first inning, Ervin Jones and Heath Henson drew back-to-back walks. Matt Curtis then line a double off the left field fence to score Jones and Henson.
Winning pitcher: Matt Curtis
Losing pitcher: Kevin Vanzandt
Game MVPs: Matt Curtis went 1-for-2 with two RBIs. He also pitched seven shutout innings, gave up six hits and three walks while striking out 16. Todd Hawkins went 1-for-3.
Noble Effort: Kevin Vanzandt pitched seven innings, gave up two hits, two runs and two walks while striking out nine. Geoff McLawhorn went 2-for-3. Vanzandt also went 1-for-2. Johnny Brown, Brandon Cherry and Johnny Tripp each went 1-for-3.
Miscellaneous Notes: The Orioles won the championship in 2023. They had opportunities to repeat as champions, but they left 10 runners on base, and they had one runner thrown out at the plate to end an inning.
Nationals advance with walk-off, 9-8, win over Dodgers
Hawkins' RBI-single puts Nationals in championship game
Todd Hawkins singled through the infield, scoring Heath Henson as the Nationals completed a comeback, walk-off win over the Dodgers Wednesday night at Kafer park to advance to the 35+ Division championship game.
HIGHLIGHTS
Key to the win: The Dodgers took a one-run lead into the bottom of the seventh inning. Ervin Jones led off the inning with a double, and Heath Henson singled. Following a fielder's choice, Scott Shaffer singled in Jones and Todd Hawkins singled in Henson for the win.
Winning pitcher: Heath Henson
Losing pitcher: Doug Amerson
Game MVPs: Todd Hawkins went 4-for-4 with two RBIs. Heath Henson went 2-for-2 with three runs scored. Jesse Kenefic went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Noble Effort: Rick Castro went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored. Jayson Melendez, Andy Schneider and Doug Amerson went 1-for-2. Trey Bennett went 1-for-1 with three runs scored.
Miscellaneous Notes: The Nationals will play in the June 25 championship game against the Orioles.

Orioles need comeback, walk-off win to reach championship
Orioles win on Wynne's three-run double
Travis Wynne drove in three with a bases-clearing double in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Orioles completed a comeback, walk-off, 9-8, win over the Padres at Kafer Park to advance to the 35+ Division championship game.
HIGHLIGHTS
Key to the win: After Gene Shackley put the Padres up by two in the top of the seventh with a two-run single to left field, the first three Orioles hitters reached base in the bottom of the seventh before Travis Wynne lined a pitch to the right-center gap, scoring three.
Winning pitcher: J.P. Whitford
Losing pitcher: Mike Arico
Game MVPs: Travis Wynne went 2-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored. Chris Drake, J.P. Whitford and Johnny Brown each went 2-for-4. Dean Dobson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run (I know, right? Where did that come from?).
Noble Effort: Dave Schifano went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Gene Shackley went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored. Justin Honda went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Joe Bracamonte went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
Miscellaneous Notes: The Orioles will play in the June 25 championship game against either the Dodgers or the Nationals.
