Championship Game

Orioles 12 | Dodgers 3

Shaffer, Henson lead Nationals to "win" over Padres.

While the Nationals scored 11 runs and the scoreboard showed them the victor, it was the Padres that won the 35+ Division consolation game, as the Nationals had too few rostered players to play the game. The two teams still played with substitute players, and the Nationals came out on top, 11-3, Tuesday night at Kafer Park.

HIGHLIGHTS

Key to the actual win: Pulled groin, had to work late, on vacation -- these are just a few of the reasons the Nationals were short-handed and had to forfeit.

Key to the fake win: The Nationals scored nine runs in the first inning and had 15 hits on the night.

Winning pitcher: Alex Vizcarrondo

Losing pitcher: Gene Shackley

Game MVPs: Scott Shaffer and Heath Henson each went 4-for-5 and drove in two runs. Alex Vizcarrondo went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and he pitched seven innings, gave up 10 hits and no earned runs.

Noble Effort: David Hackney went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Johnny Price went 2-for-5 with a run scored.

Miscellaneous Notes: It was hot out there. There was no wind. The bugs could have carried off a grown man if they were organized. Still, it was baseball.
