Foreman leads offense, Cardenas shuts down Braves hitters as Yankees win, 13-2

Ryan Foreman hit a home run and scored three times and Teddy Cardenas pitched seven strong innings to lead the Yankees to a 13-2 win over the Braves Sunday at Kafer Park.

Foreman went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, a single, a walk and three runs scored to lead the Yankee offense. Zach Bennett went 2-for-3 with two singles, two walks and three runs scored. Nate Anthony went 3-for-5 with a run scored.

The Yankees scored three in the first, one in the third, three in the fourth, three in the fifth, one in the sixth and two in the seventh.

Cardenas pitched seven innings and allowed two runs while picking up the win.

The Braves scored one in the third and one in the sixth, as Cardenas kept Braves hitters off balance all afternoon.

Lawrence Davidson went 1-for-2 with a double. Doug Amerson went 1-for-2 with a run scored. Alberto Sosa went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. Dillon Whitford went 1-for-2 with an RBI.

The Yankees improve to 2-1 and will host the Red Sox at 1 p.m. Sunday. The Braves fall to 1-2 and will visit the Orioles at 4 p.m. Sunday.
