Week 1: Red Sox 14, Yankees 8

Brown homers, Scott pitches Red Sox to win over Yankees

The Yankees and the Red Sox slugged it out in what for the most part was a close game.

Stellar starting pitching from the Red Sox’s William Scott kept the Yankees trailing through the third inning. The Yankees took the lead in the fourth inning and held it through the fifth, despite a lead-off solo homer to center in the bottom of the fourth by Gabriel Brown.

A productive sixth inning at the plate gave the Red Sox the lead and eventual 14-8 win.

The Red Sox, 1-0, host the Braves, 0-1, at 1 p.m. Sunday at Kafer Park. The Yankees, 0-1, visit the Orioles, 1-0, at 4 p.m. Sunday at Kafer Park.
