Orioles use four pitchers to top Braves

The Orioles used four pitchers over seven innings to top the Braves, 4-2, Sunday, at Kafer Park.

Kevin Vanzandt, JP Whitford and Josh Edwards each tossed two innings and Oriole newcomer Joe Edreira pitched the final inning as the Orioles won their first game of the East Carolina Amateur Baseball League fall season.

This is the first year the ECABL has played a fall season, which will run just six games.

Several Braves players made an impact. Two new players to the league added to the excitement of a very good game. Dylan Whitford jumped behind the plate and did an outstanding job against his father's team. Zack Cooke showed his skill set in the outfield and at the plate. Doug Amerson, John Peterson and Alberto Sosa each threw two innings. The combined ages of the pitchers exceeded 175 years of baseball experience.

The Orioles, 1-0, will host the Yankees at 4 p.m. next Sunday. The Braves, 0-1, will visit the Red Sox at 1 p.m. next Sunday.
