Curtis pitches Nationals to 6-3 win over Orioles
Travis Wynne and Derek Sechrist each drove in two runs, and Matt Curtis tossed six innings and gave up two runs as the Nationals beat the Orioles, 6-3, Wednesday and claimed the ECABL 35+ Division championship.
HIGHLIGHTS
Key to the win: Tied, 1-1, the Nationals strung five hits together to score five runs in the third inning.
Winning pitcher: Matt Curtis
Losing pitcher: Kevin Vanzandt
Game MVPs: Matt Curtis went 1-for-2 with two runs scored. He also pitched six innings, giving up six hits and one earned run. He struck out six and walked two. Travis Wynne went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Derek Sechrist went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored. Tyler Leaser went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Heath Henson went 1-for-1 with a run scored. Jesse Kenefic went 1-for-3 with a run scored.
Noble Effort: Dennis Malone went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Matt Wilyonson went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Bryan Farquhar went 1-for-2 with a run scored. Randy Mason and Lewis Skerry each went 1-for-3.
Miscellaneous Notes: The two teams have faced each other in the championship game the last three years. The Nationals won in 2024, the Orioles won in 2025 and now the Nationals reclaimed the title in 2026.

What started out as a competitive game at 3-3 after the top of the fourth inning turned into a blowout as the Orioles used a mixture of hits, walks, errors and a whole lot of hit batsmen to win 18-3, Wednesday night at West Craven Park.
HIGHLIGHTS
Key to the win: Padres' pitchers nearly out-hit Orioles' batters. Eight Orioles hitters were hit by pitches to reach base compared to nine actual hits.
Winning pitcher: Roland Fielder
Losing pitcher: Patrick Manzo
Game MVPs: JP Whitford went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and a run scored. Johnny Brown went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Dennis Malone went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Roland Fielder pitched five innings, giving up five hits and three runs. He struck out four and walked two.
Noble Effort: Gene Shackley went 1-for-1 with a run scored. Patrick Manzo went 1-for-2 with a run scored. Kelby Brooks went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Tomas Hernandez went 1-for-2.
Miscellaneous Notes: The Orioles move on to play the Nationals in the championship game on June 23.

Ervin Jones tosses four shutout innings and drive in two runs for Nationals
Three Nationals pitchers held to the Dodgers to four hits and no runs to lead the Nationals to a 7-0 win over the Dodgers in the first round of the championship tournament Tuesday night at West Craven Park.
HIGHLIGHTS
Key to the win: A three-run first inning and pitching that kept the Dodgers' hitters off balance all night keyed the Nationals win.

Losing pitcher: Gabe Brown
Game MVPs: BJ Horne went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Matt Curtis went 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Ervin Jones went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. He also pitched four innings, giving up two hits and no runs. He struck out two and walked none.
Noble Effort: Gabe Brown went 1-for-2. Shawn Ryan, Teddy Cardenas and Jimmie Lee went 1-for-3.
Miscellaneous Notes: The Nationals will play the Orioles in the championship game on June 23.
